NewDelhi: Intel processors are quite popular all over the world, most computers have Intel’s processor. In addition to Intel, processors like AMD and ARM are also in computers. In these processors, three big flaws have been found which can prove to be quite serious.
As soon as Microsoft gets the information, the emergency patches have been issued with immediate effect. This patch has been released for Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 operating systems. According to the company, users also need to update the firmware update issued by the device company. This means that the firmware that is issued by the computer manufacturer must also be updated with the Windows operating system.
Intel, AMD, and ARM chipsets are not only used in computers but also in other devices like MacBook and smartphones. At the moment, Google has released patches for their devices so that these processors can be avoided. Patch has not been released for MacOS, Linux, and iOS right now.
What is the downside? What is the danger?
There are two types of attacks being called Meltdown and Spectre. Both of these are taking advantage of the three faults of the processors, which are critical for computer processors. Meltdown and Spectre Work on Personal Computers, Mobile, and Cloud.
The Google Security blog says, “These weaknesses/flaws can affect AMD, ARM and Intel and operating systems running on them”
It is also stated in the Google Security blog that due to these imperfections it is also possible that any unauthorized party or any person you have not given access to the computer can get sensitive information from your system. This information may contain passwords, encrypted keys, and app related information.
Security researchers have found a security flaw and have said that through this, hackers can steal sensitive information from all modern computers in the world, which have Intel, ARM and MD processors involved. Overall, most of the world’s smartphones and computer are at risk.
What should you do to avoid this?
If you use a Windows computer and if you have Windows 7, 8.1 or 10 then Microsoft has issued security patches. You can go from system settings to update it with immediate effect. If the computer manufacturer has also released an update, then they also update it. You can also talk to the company’s support for this.
Microsoft has issued a statement. It said, “We are continuing to issue security updates to protect Windows customers today. This update will save customers from the problems encountered in Intel, AMD and ARM chipsets.
Microsoft has also stated in one statement that so far the company has not received any such information so that it can be determined that any Windows computer is a target of this attack.
