Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the launch of a new virtual reality headset ‘Oculus Go’ with an initial price of $199. As stated in a blog post by Oculus VR ‘Oculus Go is our first standalone product, the easiest way to go to VR. It will be available for sale for $ 199 from next year. Watching movies and concerts in VR, playing games and having fun with your friends will be wonderful in itself.’

Unlike its previous version ‘Oculus Rift’, this VR headset does not require a smartphone or a plug-in and a personal computer to work. The CEO of Facebook said at the company’s annual conference ‘Oculus Connect’ in San Jose, California that it is the ‘most accessible VR headset’ and it is likely to be launched at any time in 2018.

Zuckerberg wants to join a billion people to the VR. According to the Vice President of Facebook Equipment VR, Hugo Barra, “the easiest way is for developers to join VR.” Talking about the features, the headset has a high-resolution fast-switch LCD screen for visual clarity which helps in reducing ‘Screen Door Effect’ (SDE).

There are next-generation lenses to see a wide area with low brightness. ‘Oculus Go’ has cameras on the headset and this device uses computer vision technology to detect Orientational tracking.

Speakers have been installed in the headset, which users can take directly to the VR and make headset easy to share with anyone else. A 3.5mm standard headphone jack is also provided for personal use.
